You’ll be over the moon for Harvest Moon Sangiovese

Utilizing their expertise in one of Italy’s most prolific styles, and as a single vineyard, Harvest Moon created this Alexander Valley Sangiovese that is indeed worthy of your attention.

In classic Harvest Moon style, this elegant light red wine begins with floral spring flowers, fresh graphite and lightly toasted almonds. Beautiful, soft red fruits gush onto the palate and grip with gentle fuzzy tannins.

Characteristically food-friendly, Harvest Moon Sangiovese pairs with far more than merely Italian fare. It also teams exceptionally with grilled meats and vegetables. You can also raise your pizza game to a whole new level with a glass or two.

As Coloradans look to entertain more, you can find wines for this, or any season, at larger, local, family-owned liquor stores, like Wyatt’s, that offer you a superior selection with knowledgeable staff who will help you find the perfect wine for any occasion.

Ocaso Wine is a winner

The Ocaso winery in the Mendoza winemaking region of  Argentina produces flavorful quality wines that are incredibly food friendly. Some of their most popular selections include:

Ocaso Malbec

This full flavored Argentine red offers aromas of black cherry and blackberry with underlying hints of spice and earth tones. These flavors are reinforced on the palate, along with nice firm tannins and a pleasant leather note in the finish.

Ocaso Pinot Noir

This light ruby red wine has aromas of red fruit, underbrush, and spice with underlying hints of menthol. These flavors are reinforced on the palate, along with subtle oak and an ample acidity that persists through its refreshing finish.

Ocaso Merlot

The nose is very fruit forward, with black cherry and touches of blackberry coming through and notes of spice and earth notes. Its palate has juicy blackberry, with nice firm tannins, and a nice leather note in the finish.

Ocaso Torrontes

Floral and honey notes highlight this wine’s palate with a bright acidity and minerality. Apricot and peach, with a little lychee, add great depth of flavor for a great value. Excellent with spicy Latin or Thai dishes.

Ocaso’s strides in quality and sustainability make it a great introduction to the wine of Argentina.

Saturday Tasting – Wines that are goods as ‘L’

This Saturday, August 10, Wyatt’s is offering a free tasting tour of “Wines that are goods as ‘L'” — wines that all begin with “L”.

Aside from beginning with the letter “L” and being wet, all these affordable wines make great simple selections for summer gatherings around the grill or for casual dining.

This weekend, experience such selections as:

L’Objet Sauvignon Blanc:  Handcrafted in small batches, this classically styled Sauvignon Blanc has bright flavors of mango, papaya, lemon, and pineapple, with a hint of minerality and a crisp finish.

L’Odalet Chardonnay: This French Chardonnay is a steal! A beautiful soft, golden color with butter and lemon on the nose. Medium bodied with hints of pineapple, white peaches, nectarines, and oak. Soft and supple.

L’Odalet Pinot Noir: This French Pinot Noir has a translucent red garnet color with a light edge. It carries aromas of ripe cherries, raspberries, and vanilla. Slight smoky notes from the bouquet add to a finish with a medium body and a tight, well-structured acidity.

L’Odalet Cabernet: Cherries, cranberries, baked rhubarb pie. Touches of Madagascar vanilla and coffee with silky textures and softer style tannins. Balanced and elegant, medium to full bodied with a nice balanced finish.

All of this week’s featured items will be on sale!

You can try these wines this Saturday during our free tasting from noon-4:45 pm, at Wyatt’s Outlaw Saloon, in the back of the store.

As always, all participants must present valid I.D.
