Saturday Tasting – Wines of Chile

This Saturday, March 7, Wyatt’s is offering a free tasting of wines from Chile.

This weekend, try selections such as:

Painted Face Sauvignon Blanc: Aromas of cut grass and grapefruit kick off this herbally intense Sauvignon Blanc. Loaded with flavors of citrus lemon and pear, it is refreshing and clean with the perfect balance of acidity. A great wine to chill down and serve with crab meat appetizers, spring rolls, or shrimp.

Painted Face Cabernet Sauvignon: Packed with plenty of red fruit with black currants, tobacco, and cassis notes, this Chilean Cabernet is well-structured and perfectly balanced. Its finish is long and velvety. Matches nicely with pork loin, grilled chicken breasts, and Chilean sea bass with creamy mashed potatoes.

Painted Face Chardonnay: This Chardonnay from Chile’s Central Valley displays green apple and pear on the nose, followed by a palate with oak and a subtle, creamy mouthfeel and a bright acidity. Excellent with chicken dishes or appetizers with friends.

Bouchon Pais Viejo: Pais Viejo (‘Old Pais’) is a wine with history. Made with Pais grapes from over 100-year-old Gobelet vines planted in the dry-farmed, coastal region of Maule, it has a bright cherry color with very juicy, fresh aromas of strawberry, wildflowers and sour cherry. It pairs well with fish and pasta.

You can try these exciting wines this Saturday during our free tasting from noon-4:45 pm, at Wyatt’s Outlaw Saloon, in the back of the store.

Estampa Gran Reserva Wines will have you running to the liquor store

Chile has seen an explosion in quality wines over the last few years. One such example is Estampa Gran Reserva Wines.

Viña Estampa began in 2001 under the entrepreneurial spirit of Miguel González-Ortiz. From the beginning, the winery focused on innovation and modern techniques to create world-class wines that would fully express the characteristics of the different varieties and their country of origin.

Here are some solid choices from Estampa:

Carmenere

Red violet in color, Estampa Carmenere displays ripe blackberries with notes of oak, tobacco and vanilla. Its juicy, concentrated flavor with raspberry and plum tannins leads to a long, lingering, chewy finish. Rated 92 Points by James Suckling.

Sauvignon Blanc

Its citrus and crisp green aromas contain a minerally note of wet stone. The racy, lean palate also suggests stoniness, while this wine tastes of orange and green herbs proceeding to a finish that displays bell pepper. Composed of 95% Sauvignon Blanc, 3% Chardonnay, and 2% Viognier grapes.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Originating in the noteworthy winemaking Colchagua Valley region, Estampa Cabernet has pronounced juniper and herbaceous scents are on the nose, with olive and eucalyptus notes. This bold blend is dense with a smooth mouthfeel. Its herbal berry flavors carry some buttery oak with a spicy long finish.

There is a wealth of fantastic wines from all around the globe. You can pick up a bottle of Estampa Gran Reserva, as well as many other wonderful choices, at large, local wine emporiums like Wyatt’s, which offers you a global approach to spirit and wine tasting.

Saturday Wine Tasting – Caliterra Wines of Chile

This Saturday, November 9, Wyatt’s is offering a free tasting of wines from Caliterra of Chile.

The Eduardo Chadwick family originally created Caliterra in 1989 as a sister project to the family-owned Viña Errazuriz of Chile. Caliterra developed its own distinct style, however, by sourcing fruit throughout Chile’s prime wine-growing regions. Caliterra was named for la calidad de la tierra, because it reflects the “quality” (calidad) and the “finest land” (tierra) of Chile. From the beginning, Caliterra focused on discovering new vineyard sources, seeking the best quality for each variety.

In 1996, the Chadwicks entered into a partnership with the Robert Mondavi family, which presented an ideal opportunity for them to realize our global vision of winemaking centered on an exchange of cultures and winemaking philosophies.

This weekend, try selections such as Caliterra’s Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc.
