Saturday Wine Tasting – Caliterra Wines of Chile

This Saturday, November 9, Wyatt’s is offering a free tasting of wines from Caliterra of Chile.

The Eduardo Chadwick family originally created Caliterra in 1989 as a sister project to the family-owned Viña Errazuriz of Chile. Caliterra developed its own distinct style, however, by sourcing fruit throughout Chile’s prime wine-growing regions. Caliterra was named for la calidad de la tierra, because it reflects the “quality” (calidad) and the “finest land” (tierra) of Chile. From the beginning, Caliterra focused on discovering new vineyard sources, seeking the best quality for each variety.

In 1996, the Chadwicks entered into a partnership with the Robert Mondavi family, which presented an ideal opportunity for them to realize our global vision of winemaking centered on an exchange of cultures and winemaking philosophies.

This weekend, try selections such as Caliterra’s Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc.

You can try these engaging new wines this Saturday during our free tasting from noon-4:45 pm, at Wyatt’s Outlaw Saloon, in the back of the store.

All of this week’s featured items will be on sale!

As always, all participants must present valid I.D.

Experience this premium brand by trying one of these varietals:

Sauvignon Blanc

Its pale greenish-yellow color leads to a nose of tropical fruits such as mango and passion fruit. Its palate features prominent citrus and a pleasant acidity.

Chardonnay

Golden yellow with green hues, this wine shows great intensity on the nose. Fruity aromas of mango and pear are well accompanied by citrus and minerality. Its palate is balanced with a beautiful acidity, enhancing the pear flavor. Good persistence on the mouth, with great freshness and vivacity.

Merlot

This wine has a deep, lively ruby red color. It displays fresh, intensely fruity aromas, with touches of raspberry, cassis, coffee, and tobacco. The mouthfeel is voluptuous and fresh with juicy fruit flavors and a vibrant acidity with a pleasant lingering.

Cabernet Sauvignon

With a vivid crimson color and robust freshness, this wine has aromas of raspberries and blueberries with floral notes and touches of tobacco leaf. On the palate, its structure is rich and well balanced, with fresh-fruit flavors and a bright acidity.

Caliterra is a prime example of the explosion of quality in Chilean wines that last few years. You can experience the wines of Chile, and many other regions, at larger, independently owned wine shops that offer a superior selection from around the globe and an experienced staff that will help you find the perfect bottle every time.
