Saturday Wine Tasting – International Mead Day

August 3, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 4:45 pm

This Saturday, August 3, Wyatt’s is celebrating International Mead Day with a special tasting of craft meads.

The fermentation of honey and water, mead dates back as far as 6500 B.C. Many cultures refer to mead as ‘honey-wine’, although mead may also have spices, fruits, grain, or even hops added to vary the taste and body of the drink. It can be carbonated or naturally sparkling, dry, sweet or semi-sweet depending on the recipe. Mead is truly a time-honored tradition, steeped in history and culture.

Today Wyatt’s is sampling:

Meridian Hive Rosé: Subtle and beautiful, it is blended with ruby red grapefruit, orange blossom honey, dark sweet cherry and hibiscus for that perfect smooth and refreshing Rosé taste. 5.8% ABV.

Randy Buzz Feisty Ginger: This session mead is made with raw Colorado wildflower honey, organic ginger and champagne yeast. Lightly carbonated and dry, it has a clean, smooth finish.  6.8% ABV.

Mechalore From the Abyss Rise: This Brazilian-style coffee mead combines Café Richesse’s Conquista coffee with the strawberry notes of alfalfa blossom honey. 13% ABV.

Queen Bee Dorothy: Dorothy brings famous Palisade peaches from Colorado’s Western Slope to Rocky Mountain spring water and orange blossom honey, producing a semi-sweet melomel with a subtle double-play of fruity and floral aromatics and flavors that will have you cheering. 12% ABV.

You can embrace your inner Viking and try these honey wines this Saturday during our free tasting from noon-4:45 pm, at Wyatt’s Outlaw Saloon, in the back of the store.

All of this week’s featured items will be on sale!

As always, all participants must present valid I.D.
