This Saturday, September 2, Wyatt’s is offering a free tastings of Vapor Distillery and French Origin wines.
Vapor Distillery, formerly Roundhouse Spirits became the first Legal Distillery in Boulder County, Colorado in 2007. Their Master Distiller, Ted Palmer has 20 years of experience, knowledge, and skill creating new and innovative Handcrafted Spirits. A plethora of awards and thousands of happy customers later, we’re lucky enough to profile some of their best products in our tasting this week. This Saturday, we will be sampling the following selections:
Pumpkin King Cordial Liqueur:
This handcrafted seasonal liqueur is made by blending roasted organic Baby Bear Pie pumpkins from local Munson Farms with fresh ground cloves, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, Madagascar Bourbon vanilla beans, and Vapor’s renowned Western style RHok Gin. It’s a prized limited release that tastes like pumpkin pie in a glass. 30 ABV.
Arrosta Coffee Liqueur:
Coffee beans from local grinder The Unseen Bean are hand-ground with exotic Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Beans, and then slowly cold-brewed to extract the smooth intense coffee flavor and natural sweetness, while leaving out the bitterness that heat brewing can impart. The delicious cold-brewed coffee in every small batch of our Handcrafted Arrosta Coffee Liqueur is so naturally sweet that we only need to add a touch of Pure Cane Sugar. As a result our svelte Coffee Liqueur has just half the calories of most other coffee liqueurs, a more robust natural coffee flavor, and the perfect hint of Madagascar Vanilla sweetness. 30% ABV.
Pruf Vodka: Renowned for their Rhok and Ginski Barrel Aged gins, Vapor makes this impressively clean, soft, super-smooth vodka. It bears a subtle sweetness that makes it perfect for sipping over ice or mixing into your favorite cocktail. They begin with pure Colorado Rocky Mountain water from the Arapaho Glacier and use only the highest purity alcohol distilled from corn to produce this pure, clean vodka. It also was awarded the Gold at the 2015 Denver International Spirits Competition. 40% ABV.
Rhok Gin:
The flagship offering of Boulder’s best distillery, Rhok is an incredibly balanced, New Western style gin that is easy on the juniper and blended with eleven organic botanicals from around the globe. Small batch distilled in a Spanish copper pot still, Rhok is a winner of seven national and international gold level awards.
Ginsky:
Vapor makes this unique barrel-rested version of Rhok known as Ginskey that is aged for a minimum of two years in new charred American oak casks to give it the smoky warmth and barrel spice flavors associated with whiskey. 47% ABV.
We will be tasting the following treasures for our wine lovers. They all come from France, or in the case of the Malbec, from grapes originating in France:
Chateau Du Gazin Canon Fronsac: This Bordeaux’s vineyard has an average vine age of over 40 years, naturally producing lower yields of more concentrated fruit. The wine is a blend of 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Malbec. The predominance of Merlot is traditional in the area, and lends the wine more softness and generosity on the palate. This wine has rich, dark berry fruit, overlaid by spicy mocha and oak notes. The house style is powerful, but elegant, with refined tannins. Ready to drink upon release, the wine may also be cellared for 3-5 years, to allow the tannins time to soften further and for complex bottle aromas to develop.
Chateau de Callac Graves White Bordeaux: This very balanced white Bordeaux welcomes you with and elegant green gold color and a depth of aromas of white flowers and lemon, leading into essences of citrus and vanilla with a tart acidity. Try it with your favorite cheeses, seafood, or grilled chicken.
Ziegler Pinot Gris: This Alsace white is medium-bodied with a rich, somewhat floral bouquet. Slightly spicier than other pinot gris, and a welcome addition to any collection.
Silvertop Oak Cask Malbec: Silvertop Malbec has bright aromas of black fruits, spices and herbs. It is full-bodied with rich fruit flavors of blackberries, blueberries, wild plums, and hints of mocha on its long finish. Enjoy this award-winning Mendoza region wine with grilled meats, BBQ, pasta, grilled vegetables, or pizza.
