Saturday Tasting – The Prisoner Wine & Acidulous Brewing

The Prisoner Wine Company works with passionate, devoted growers to source varietals from quality vineyards and appellations across California to create interesting wine blends that are thought provoking and approachable.

With over a decade of winemaking experience at Paso Robles’ prestigious Wild Horse Winery, Winemaker Chrissy Wittmann leads The Prisoner winemaking team who, along with their family of growers, work together to craft their catalog of distinctly stylistic wines.

The Prisoner, their flagship luxury red, has a dense dark red hue framed with vibrant crimson. Aromas of Bing cherry, espresso, roasted fig and vanillin oak accents are noticeable. Its body is powerful and generous, supported with a lively acidity while flavors of ripe raspberry, pomegranate, and wild berry fruit linger harmoniously with the presence of vanillin oak accents. Soft, integrated tannin chains allow the wine to be accessible and provide for a velvety, luscious finish.

Make no mistake. This innovative offering is a savory, lusty red wine that is dense and full-bodied, with rich peppery meaty, blackberry notes. It is the ideal steak wine, and suitable for any hearty fare.
