Wyatt’s Imperial Ale Challenge

July 16, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 3:45 pm

Pliny1

This Saturday, July 16, Wyatt’s Wet Goods invites you to join us for a one-time special tasting of the legendary Pliny the Elder and three other renowned Imperial-style Beers in the Imperial Ale Challenge.

We received a surprise shipment of the famous and much sought after Pliny the Elder. Rather than selling this small allotment to a lucky few, Wyatt’s decided to offer it in this special, free Saturday beer tasting.

To make things even sweeter, you have the chance to compare this wonder of wort in a blind taste test against three other magnificent Imperials—Melvin 2×4, Odell Myrcenary, and local favorite Wibby Brewing’s own Ted IPL.

Will Pliny live up to its reputation? Come in Saturday and find out!

Due to the limited quantity we received, Pliny the Elder will only be available for tasting.

Melvin 2×4 and Odell Myrcenary are both available for purchase in the store. Wibby Ted IPL is donating growlers for the contest. You can get their Ted Imperial, as well as many other delightful craft lagers, at their brewery tasting room at 209 Emery Street in Longmont.

Join us for the Wyatt’s Imperial Ale Challenge! Vote for your favorite and see really is the king!

Tasting hours are 1-3:45 pm, at our Outlaw Saloon in the back of the store.

All participants must provide valid ID.

The Contestants:

Pliny the Elder – Pliny the Elder is brewed with Amarillo, Centennial, CTZ, and Simcoe hops. It is well-balanced with malt, hops, and alcohol, and slightly bitter with a fresh hop aroma of floral, citrus, and pine. *According to Dashiell Hammet, it is also the stuff that dreams are made of.

Melvin 2×4 DIPA – This 2×4 Double IPA is the Gold Winner of numerous note-worthy awards, including the Alpha King Championship; two years in a row and counting. You’d be crazy not to drink this. So close your eyes, open up, and experience the mad floral, citrusy, and clean taste of hop talent.

Odell Myrcenary – Brewed with a blend of hops containing the highest levels of Myrcene, part of the essential oils in the hop flower, this double IPA prevails with a tropical fruit-like flavor, a pungent floral aroma, and a clean getaway. 9.3% ABV, 80 IBUs.

Ted IPL – A double IPL brewed with crystal, cascade, chinook, pacifica, glacier, and nugget hops and a smooth, sweet finish. 10% ABV, 90 IBUs.

*This is not true. I made it up. However, I’m sure he would never have turned down a glass.
