Friday Tasting – Mechalore MeadWorks

This Friday, October 5, Wyatt’s is offering a free tasting featuring Mechalore MeadWorks.

Mechalore MeadWorks of Loveland started as a glimmer in the eye of Adam Thompson since he began homebrewing beer in 2007 and made his first mead in 2009. A year later he and his new bride Majken served their homebrewed meads at their wedding, Since then he has been researching meadmaking techniques, exploring experimental meads, and competing and winning in regional, national, and international mead competitions.

During our free tasting, you can try their:

Nowhere to Hide: Nowhere to Hide is their traditional mead made from a constantly changing selection of honey and sweetness levels. This is Volume #1, made with Zambian wildflower honey that is fermented with Rocky Mountain water. It has a robust honey flavor with notes of coffee, tobacco, black tea, and cacao. It is aged on Hungarian Oak and finished it off-dry to leave a full impression of the honey on the palate. 13% ABV.

Beneath a Broken Sky: Beneath a Broken Sky is a wildflower honey Metheglin (spiced honey wine) flavored with Ancho Chiles and Rooibos tea. The natural cinnamon and spice notes of the wildflower honey are teamed with the earth spiciness and vanilla notes from the Rooibos tea, then finished off with the fruity warmth of the Ancho Chiles. Share this one with friends around a fire with a bowl of chili and cornbread or after dinner with S’mores. 13% ABV.

Mortal Coil: Mortal Coil is a Capsimel (honey wine with chile peppers) made with Orange Blossom Honey, flavored with local Hatch Green Chiles and Rocky Mountain water. A fiery burst of medium spice roasted pepper spiciness is curbed by the sweetness of orange blossom honey. It goes well with street tacos, carne asada, or as a spicy “meadmosa” by blending with fresh squeezed orange juice. 13% ABV.

Waking Daylight: Waking Daylight is an Acerglyn (honey wine with maple syrup) made with Clover Blossom honey and flavored with maple syrup, French toast spices,  and made with Rocky Mountain water. It finishes semi-sweet and pairs perfectly with coffee, eggs, and breakfast sausage. 13% ABV.
