This Friday, January 5, 2018, Wyatt’s is offering a free tasting featuring the Boulder Beer Company and vino from Aresti Wines of Chile.
The Boulder Beer Company is Colorado’s first craft brewery.
In 1979, two professors at the University of Colorado received the 43rd brewing license issued in the United States, creating Boulder Beer. The original site of the brewery was a small farm northeast of Boulder, the brew house sharing space in a shed originally housing a few goats.
In a world of light yellow lagers, Boulder Beer won industry and consumer accolades for its line of bold Boulder Beers: Boulder Porter, Stout and Extra Special Bitter. Five years later, the brewery moved to its current site in Boulder and expanded from its original one-barrel brewing system to a 50-barrel brew house with top-of-the-line packaging equipment. In 1994, they converted the original tasting room into a full-menu pub and scenic patio under the Flatirons.
For the wine lovers, we are tasting these selections from Aresti Wines of Chile:
Aresti Special Release Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon: This wine from the Colchaua Valley of Chile displays aromas of red fruit, ripe plum, vanilla, and hints of coffee. The palate is complex, with nicely structure tannins. It’s a long wine, with good structure and a nice persistence. Best served with red meat choices.
Aresti Special Release Reserva Carmenere Syrah: This blend of 50% each Carmenere and Syrah from the Curico Valley of Chile has an intense fruity nose of mixed berries combined with hints of vanilla, and coffee. The palate is soft, with ripe tannins and a lingering finish. Best served with red meat dishes or aged cheeses.
Aresti Special Release Reserva Pinot Noir: This wine from the Casablanca Valley is expressive with sweet notes of cherry jam, anise, and cinnamon, blended with vanilla and mocha. Its good body fills the mouth with flavors of camelized fruit and generous tannins from French oak. Experience it with fish, especially tuna, pork dishes, or pasta.
Aresti Special Release Reserva Sauvignon Blanc: The citrus aromas of this wine carry elements of green apple and lemon in a harmonious combination with wood. Its palate is complex and concentrated, with a refreshing, balanced acidity. Perfect with salmon or shellfish.
Tasting hours for this free event on Friday, January 8th, will be from 4:00-6:45 pm, at Wyatt’s Outlaw Saloon, in the back of the store.
