Launched in 1999, Eroica is a labor of love for two of the world’s great Riesling producers. The Dr. Loosen estate of Germany teams with award-winning vintner Chateau Ste. Michelle of Washington, combining Old World traditions with New World approaches to craft an extraordinary Riesling using Washington state grapes.
Named for Beethoven’s Third Symphony, Eroica reflects not only its variety and site, but also its heritage: bold and forward from its Washington roots, yet elegant and refined from German inspiration.
Eroica Riesling offers sweet lime and mandarin orange aromas with subtle mineral notes. The mouth-watering acidity is beautifully balanced by flavorful Washington Riesling fruit. Eroica is a blended statement of the finest Riesling vineyards in that state.
To achieve the Eroica style and protect flavor intensity, the grapes were harvested at night when the vineyard temperatures were at their coldest and sent immediately to press. The result emphasizes its bright fruit, crisp acidity, and an enhanced mineralilty.
Eroica Riesling pairs well with crab, scallops, picnic ham, Asian dishes, and Indian curries.
This year, Wine Spectator gave Eroica a score of 90 and The Wine Advocate gave it a 91. Discover what all the buzz is about.
