Jeffers Creek Bourbon makes quite a splash

Are you looking for a new, but impressive, bourbon that has the versatility for both personal sipping and social gatherings?

Try Jeffers Creek. This elegant Kentucky Straight Bourbon is aged for six years in new, charred American oak barrels, this whiskey features a sweet nose of vanilla citrus and syrup with a palate of sweet corn. The finish is elegant with notes of sweet vanilla toned by dry toasty oak.

Give it a shot with smoked meats, BBQ chicken, or a good slice of pecan pie for dessert. It’s also a fun share around the poker table or as a reward for shoveling your driveway.

Due to limited stock runs, Jeffers Creek can be tough to find. You will have better success at larger, family-owned liquor stores, like Wyatt’s, that cater to the discriminating whisky drinker, as well as those just beginning their fine malt journey.

Crown Royal thunders into summer

Crown Royal, the quintessential Canadian whisky, is racing into summer. Whether it is tastings at local liquor stores or sponsorship of regional events like Longmont’s own Thunder at the Peaks Car Show, Crown Royal is ideal for summer whiskey drinkers.

With a sweetness and smoothness that many prefer over the bite of bourbon or the smokiness of peated Scotch, Crown Royal offers a whole line of easy drinking, reliable whiskies.

Try one of these offerings:

Crown Royal Fine Deluxe:

Crown Royal’s flagship is matured to perfection in white oak barrels, carrying a depth of malted smoothness that sets the standard for Canadian blends. Created to celebrate a visit from King George VI & Queen Elizabeth in 1939, Crown Royal is full-bodied, yet delicately smooth and creamy, with hints of oak and vanilla.

Crown Royal XO:

Launched in 2014, Crown Royal’s XO is a blend of approximately 50 whiskies which are married and then aged in cognac casks from the Limousin Forest in France. Rich, sweet, and smooth, this is inarguably the most complex whisky in their line.

Crown Royal Vanilla:

For this flavor variant, specially selected whiskies are infused with the rich flavor of Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla. The result is a uniquely sophisticated whisky, bursting with the bold flavor of vanilla and the distinctive smoothness of Crown Royal. It also makes a welcome addition to a “grownup” milkshake.

Crown Royal Regal Apple:

To create this flavor, Crown’s master whisky blenders hand-select batches and infuse them with Regal Gala Apples for a delicious Canadian whisky balanced with notes of crisp apple and light notes of caramel and spice. It makes an interesting entry for summer and fall months. Great simply straight or on the rocks, Crown Royal is also a lively ingredient in a whiskey smash or a summer slush.

You can find any of Crown Royal’s quality products, as well as a myriad of other whiskey selections, at large local liquor stores, like Wyatt’s, which offer you a huge selection of spirits, beer, and wine.

Join us this Saturday, June 29 for the Thunder at the Peaks Car Show at the Village at the Peaks mall, sponsored by Wyatt’s and Crown Royal.

Don’t lay down the Laws, pick it up!

Laws Whiskey House is one of Colorado’s premier distilleries. Located in Denver, they specialize in making full-flavored craft whiskies and experimenting with different types of local grains.

One should try Laws at every opportunity, especially these offerings:

Four Grain Straight Bourbon

Using painstaking care and top-notch ingredients, Laws strives to capture the character and quality of its grains in each sip. Enjoy the harmony of their flagship whiskey and the vanilla and caramel notes from their newly charred American white oak barrels that create a classic bourbon with Colorado character. Bottled at 95 proof.

Farmers Select Four Grain Straight Bourbon

This single barrel bottling of their classic Four Grain Straight Bourbon is crafted grain to bottle using ingredients hand-picked by the Colorado farmers that grow their grains. This whiskey celebrates their care and hard work. Aged at least 2 years in new American white oak. Bottled at 95 proof.

Four Grain Straight Bourbon BOTTLED IN BOND

Bottling in Bond requires that this limited release be a product of a single season, using the grain of a single season, made by one distiller at a single distillery, and aged at least 4 years in a federal government-bonded warehouse. The whiskey is then cut and bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV). These rules are significantly more stringent than the U.S. standards for “Straight Whiskey.”

Secale Straight Rye Whiskey

Secale Rye is made with 100% Colorado grains (95% rye and 5% barley). At 100 proof, this true Colorado rye packs a punch with rich flavors and a layered complexity that refines its characteristic regional terroir.

Locally, you pick up your Laws at larger, superiorly stocked liquor stores, like Wyatt’s Wet Goods, that cater to the discriminating whiskey drinker, as well as those just beginning their fine malt journey.

Join us Saturday, June 15th for our Father’s Day Weekend tasting of Laws Whiskey. All tasting items will be on sale!

Highland Journey Scotch raises the bar

Highland Journey is a bold, full-flavored blended malt Scotch whisky from Hunter Laing & Company. It is inspired by a train journey in the 1950’s, when Stewart Laing’s father took him to the Highlands to visit distilleries, igniting his passion for whisky.

Highland Journey includes only malt whiskies from Highland distilleries such as Blair Athol, Clynelish, and Teaninich, matured in both oak bourbon and Spanish sherry casks.

Its nose begins reminiscent of porridge before sweeter notes of freshly baked brown bread, vanilla fudge, floral heather, and red apple skin appear.

Its palate has a decidedly creamy and buttery mouthfeel that is surprisingly sweet at first, with front flavors of lemon cake and vanilla custard. It then swiftly develops into bold, spicy notes of cinnamon and cracked black pepper, leading to a medium length, malty finish with elements of honeyed barley and crushed almonds.

At 46.2% ABV, it has a nice tempered heat and is pleasant for both sipping and as a mixer.

You can get Highland Journey Scotch Whisky, as well as many other fine Scotches, at large, family-owned liquor stores that cater to the discriminating whisky drinker, as well as those just beginning their fine malt journey.
